France has only 12 Canadair which are “30 years old age”

Like every summer, fires are raging, especially in the south of France, around the Mediterranean. And like every summer, the question of strengthening the means of struggle, in particular aerial, returns to the front of the stage. On the occasion of a group purchase, on the initiative of the European Union, six member states, France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Croatia, ordered, during the Bourget fair (June 16 to 22), from 22 new generation.

The contract signed under the aegis of the European Union, within the framework of the Resceu project, provides that only two bombers of water will strengthen the very aging fleet of 12 Canadair operated by the French authorities. They all accuse “30 years of average age”specifies Jean-Philippe Côté, vice-president of the Havilland Canada program. Their intensive use, especially at sea, accelerates their aging. So much so, according to a parliamentary report revealed on July 2, that none of the 12 Canadair has “Summer was able to steal certain days during the summer of 2024”.
