Canadair – France dispatches two Canadair and a coordination plane in Spain to help fight fires, a two -day mission departing from Nîmes, the Minister of the Interior announced
France sends two Canadair to Spain on Thursday and a coordination plane available to the Spanish authorities, who called for help in the European Union in an attempt to control the fires that ravage the country, the French Interior Minister announced.
Eleven level 2 fires
The Spanish Minister of the Interior Fernando Grande-Marlaska had asked for aid of the EU and the sending of two Canadair on Wednesday evening, indicating that in total there were 11 level 2 fires (on a scale that has four) in his country.
Touched by numerous forest fires, Spain has called on European solidarity thanks to the Union’s civil protection mechanism.

Level 2 alert means a high risk of fire and implies a deployment of additional personnel, in particular military, and fire -fighting equipment. Fires in Spain have killed three people since Tuesday.
