“France will recognize the state of Palestine”, announces Emmanuel Macron in a declaration of peace in Gaza

After weeks to wait, Emmanuel Macron finally formalizes him: “France will recognize the state of Palestine”. In a long message published on his account X, this Thursday evening, the President of the Republic claims “immediately a cease-fire, the release of all hostages and massive humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza”, considering that “peace is possible” in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

“We must also guarantee the demilitarization of Hamas, secure and rebuild Gaza,” adds Emmanuel Macron who later insists on reconstruction and viability of the state of Palestine.

“In the light of the commitments that the President of the Palestinian Authority has taken with me, I therefore wrote to him my determination to advance,” concluded the French president who gives an appointment “in next September” to recognize the Palestinian state during a “solemn announcement at the General Assembly of the United Nations”.

As a reminder, Emmanuel Macron had indicated, on April 9, that France could recognize the Palestinian state in June. In total, nearly 150 of the 193 UN member countries have already taken this step.

A “direct terrorism aid”

Following the announcement of Emmanuel Macron, the vice-president of the Palestine Liberation Organization (OLP), Hussein al-Cheikh, praised France on Thursday to recognize the State of Palestine: “This position reflects theFrance’s attachment to international law And their support for the rights of the Palestinian people to self -determination and the establishment of our independent state “.

Conversely, the Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Yariv Levin criticized this same decision, calling it “black spot in French history and direct aid to terrorism”. Yariv Levin, also Minister of Justice, said the “shameful decision” of France meant that it was now “time to apply Israeli sovereignty” in the West Bank, a territory that Israel has occupied since 1967.
