The Swiss barely had time to get used to their new series of banknotes, released between 2016 and 2019, which the Swiss National Bank (BNS) is working on the next fly. Next year, she will have to choose the one that the public will have preferred from several models in competition.

We took the opportunity to ask you which ones YOU preferred, among a dozen different concepts. More than 1,200 of you participated in this survey and you can say that the results are tight.

The survey and the twelve concepts here 👇🏻

Number 1

We have two winners, ex-aequo. The J and K concepts each obtain 20% of the votes. The J model, first of all. It is the clearest and ventilated series, with a fine and elegant drawing, with Swiss floral and architectural patterns.

The concept J:

“It is a very good choice, I am delighted that he comes first among your readers,” says David Corradini, member of the steering committee of Swiss graphic designersthe umbrella association of Swiss graphic designers.

“There is a strong presence of whites and a vaporous appearance”

David Corradini, Graphist

The graphic designer sees it as a possible will of the public to return to older banknotes, of “valve”, after two series of posts much more “technical” and plastic which “give almost a” monopoly “aspect, the last being notably inspired by the Euro. In any case, he sees it as an appreciable “risk -taking” and a “real graphic change”.

“The plants are detailed, and there is an architectural underlay, it is full of accuracy in terms of symbolism”

David Corradini, Graphist

Le concept K:

Here, the colors are immediately more intense and deep, with a strong contrast. Humans are occupied with various activities, back-to-back with typically Swiss landscapes, between forest, lakes and mountains. “Here, it’s much more figurative,” notes David Corradini, or papers that show reality and not symbolic elements.

“There is landscape, know-how, a little poetry”

David Corradini, Graphist

As for representations of non -famous humans, “it’s always a little delicate choice,” notes the expert.

Number 2

In second place, it is the “I” which wins with 13% of the votes. This model is more dreamlike, with bright colors and glossy. We see animals, flowers, fruits on one side, and Swiss landscapes on the other, with lines representing sword border ends.

Le concept I:

This one, David Corradini makes us understand at the outset, is not necessarily to his taste. He explains: “In banknotes, there is always a balance between a figurative aspect and a surreal aspect. Here it is far too busy and illustrative. ”

“It looks like an illustration of children’s stories”

David Corradini, Graphist

Symbolically, the graphic designer says he does not understand the purpose of this model. “A new series of tickets is a sign of a change, of something that has character. Here, we miss his target, I do not understand the position. ”

Number 3

At the end of the podium, the B model convinced you with 12% of the votes. This is perhaps the concept whose colors are closest to our current banknotes. Quite dark and sober, you can see Swiss landscapes, some animals and representations of Swiss engineering.

“We see things that go up with triangles, which gives an interesting vertical appearance to tickets,” said David Corradini.
