It took almost two days of major research to find the occupant of the stranded boat on Friday 1is August in the reeds, near the Quai de Colagny. On Sunday, the divers of the navigation brigade gathered to the surface the lifeless body of this 19 -year -old man. It was in the lake waters, about 600 meters from the shore.

The cantonal police, who communicated the information on Monday, does not deliver more details as to the circumstances of this drowning. An investigation was opened. The personal effects and the young man’s backpack had been found on this small rental boat, had specified “20 minutes”.

Important means

While first testimonies were able to suggest that two people were perhaps on board, the investigations carried out by the police “demonstrate that there was only one occupant,” said Léna Keller, spokesperson. “The announcement of the death was made to the family,” added the press release.

Led by the navigation brigade in coordination with the Geneva and Vaud cantonal fonts, research required the deployment of “substantial” means, both lactors and terrestrials. They mobilized the fire and rescue service (SIS), the Geneva cantonal harbor master’s office, as well as the boats of several sections of the Léman’s international rescue company (Geneva, Belotte-Bellerive, Hermance and Coppet).

They also involved a regau’s helicopter, that many spectators August 1 festivities at the La Grange Park had then seen turning in the air.
