The German government has described the humanitarian aid transported to Gaza as “very insufficient” despite a slight improvement, according to a statement by spokesperson Stefan Kornelius. “Israel has the obligation to ensure full delivery of aid,” he insisted, after a meeting of the security firm discusing the means to increase pressure on the Hebrew state. Berlin, traditionally a fervent support from Israel, noted a “considerable” increase in the number of authorized aid trucks, around 220 per day, according to a government source quoted by AFP.
However, Germany is concerned about the information indicating that large amounts of aid is diverted by Hamas and criminal groups. No decision was made on possible measures, but a partial suspension of arms deliveries to Israel has been mentioned. This position comes after the visit of Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in the region and the first German food drops in Gaza.
