Google messages can now blur the ‘nudes’ on Android-20250815110720

Initially tested with a limited audience since April, This “sensitive content” warning system is now accessible to a wider range of users on Android.

Thanks to the tools “Android System SAFETYCORE”, the application will be able to locally analyze the images received to detect nudity, without any data or result being transmitted to Google servers. If an explicit image is spotted, it will be automatically blurred and the user will receive a warning, with the choice of displaying the image or not.

Several options are then offered :

  • Access a page of information on the potential dangers of sharing “nudes”

  • Block the message sender

  • Return to the main application of the application

  • Choose to ignore or consult the image

A warning will also be displayed if the user wishes to send or transfer an image deemed inappropriate. By default, the option is activated for supervised accountsthat is to say the accounts of adolescents aged 13 to 17 years. For adults, the option will be deactivated by default and can be activated in the settings.
