Google Photos incorporates new features based on generative artificial intelligence, which will allow you to edit your images stored in the cloud. One of these features generates short videos from static images. This feature was already offered by Google on Gemini. And now it is directly integrated into Google Photos. This novelty is based on Veo 2, one of the Google videos generation models.
This feature will allow you, for example, to generate videos from your selfies, for social networks. But, unfortunately, for the moment, it is only deployed in the United States, on Google Photos or Android and iOS applications. During the generation of videos, the user has the possibility of describing the expected result on a prompt. And the videos have a maximum duration of six seconds.

Other features to modify photos
In addition to this video generator directly integrated into Google Photos, Google indicates that, in a few weeks, it will also deploy other features based on generative AI which will transform static images into anime, comics, sketches, 3D animations, etc. Called Remix, the functionality will allow you to choose a photo of the gallery, in order to apply a style.

Otherwise, Google will also offer a feature called Create. It will be a kind of hub in which users can discover the different tools for creating the Google Photos application. But for the moment, this hub is only announced for the United States.
Google has taken steps to prevent abuses
“While we offer features such as Photo to Video and Remix to people, we know that it is important to do so in a responsible manner, by ensuring transparency when images are created or modified using our tools for generation of photos and videos”indicates Google. The images modified by the AI on Google Photos will be marked by Synthid, an invisible watermark which makes it possible to identify the creations of artificial intelligence.
The measures taken by Google also include features that prevent potential abuses. However, the firm warns that these are still experimental features. And the latter also asks users to send feedback when using these new features.
