GRC drones will patrol along the border in the meadows

The Royal Canadian Gendarmerie (RCMP) sets up a corridor of drones along part of the Canadian-American border to strengthen security.

Drones will now patrol the border in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to test this technology. The RCMP says that the corridor has been established with the help of Transport Canada and that drone patrols will target illegal activities, including smuggling and drug trafficking.

She specifies that the corridor extends from the ground to 500 feet in the air and a mileage north of the border, just under two kilometers.

The corridor does not restrict air activities in the region, but local pilots, farmers and aviators are asked to be prudent and warn the RCMP before entering it.

The RCMP increases its presence on the border with drones, helicopters and other means, as part of Ottawa’s commitment to invest 1.3 billion to strengthen security and try to avoid customs tariffs by US President Donald Trump.
