Hamas must “return arms” and control of Gaza, says the Palestinian Prime Minister at the UN

During a United Nations Conference devoted to the solution to two states, the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Mohammad Mustafa, urged Hamas to release all hostages, to yield the control of Gaza and to transfer his weapons to the Palestinian Authority. Speaking at the UN headquarters in New York, Mustafa underlined the collective responsibility of the countries to put an end to the war against the Palestinian people in Gaza and in the whole of Palestine.

“All countries must act now to arrest war, ensure the release of all hostages and prisoners, and guarantee the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces,” he said. He added that the Palestinian authority is ready to welcome and coordinate with an Arab international force to stabilize Gaza after the conflict.

Mustafa pleaded for the reunification of the Gaza Strip with the West Bank, including Jerusalem-Est, “without occupation, seat, colonies, forced trips or annexation”. “We must rebuild Gaza with and for our people, to end the occupation, to obtain Palestinian independence and implement the solution to two states, where Palestine and Israel live side by side in peace and security, for regional peace, lasting security and prosperity,” he insisted.
