However, this titan is a ghost on our stalls. Officially confined to the Chinese market, it has become a kind of defended fruit for European technophiles. Importing it is an adventure, using it daily, a bet. So, what really is the best smartphone worth as long as you can (probably) never buy?
Design
Oppo has operated a notable stylistic turn with the Find X8 Ultra. No more eccentricity of the two-tone imitation leather of its predecessor, places to a more sober and universal elegance. The back is now entirely made of glass, with a mat or frosted finish which is available in three subtle shades: black, white and pink. The result is not only very pleasant to the touch, but also remarkably resistant to fingerprints. The manufacturing quality is impeccable. The aluminum alloy chassis and the reinforced protective glass give a feeling of luxury and solidity in hand.
Effective refinement
One of the most notable changes is the abandonment of curved screen edges for the benefit of a completely flat slab. This choice, combined with flat slices but softened by beveled edges, makes the grip comfortable despite generous dimensions (163.1 x 76.8 x 8.8 mm). The weight of 226g is well distributed and we do not feel the imbalance often caused by the imposing photo modules.
In terms of sustainability, Oppo offers a double IP68 and IP69 certification, guaranteeing protection not only against immersion up to 1.5 meters, but also against high pressure and high temperature water jets. On the buttons side, the emblematic “alert slider” gives way to a customizable shortcut button, like Apple’s button action. A second “Quick” button, dedicated to the photo, appears.
Screen
The Find X8 Ultra screen is very pleasant, the brand choosing to integrate a large 6.82 -inch AMOLED flat slab displaying a 2K definition (3,168 x 1,440 pixels). It offers impeccable image clarity with a density of 510 pixels per inch, as well as vibrant colors, deep contrasts. Finally, the fluidity is ensured by an LTPO adaptive refresh rate which varies from 1 to 120 Hz to optimize both performance and energy consumption.
Brightness is another strong point. Capable of reaching 1,600 nits in full sun and a peak at 2,500 nits for HDR content, readability is perfect in all circumstances. Although some competitors like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra display even higher brightness on paper, Find X8 Ultra offers a high -flying visual experience. Oppo has also thought of visual comfort by integrating a PWM gradation at 2160 Hz, which considerably reduces the sparkle to low light, a real plus for sensitive eyes.
Performances
Under the hood, the Find X8 Ultra is a real racing beast. It is hosted by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, engraved in 3 Nm, the most advanced of the moment. Accompanied by 12 GB of RAM LPDDR5X and 256 GB of UFS 4.1 storage on our test model, it effortlessly devours the most demanding games and the heaviest applications. Benchmarks confirm this:

Reverse of the medal, there is a tendency to heat when it is pushed in its entrenchments. A defect shared by several devices equipped with this overpowered processor.
On a daily basis, the Coloros 15 interface, based on Android 15, is fluid and responsive, but this is where the largest paradox in this phone is hidden for a European user. We will not dwell on the software part since we were treated to a Chinese version which is not really like what we are used to seeing in our regions. In fact, it is however possible to fairly easily activate Google services and install the applications of the American giant, including the Play Store.
We appreciate the many features, which are practical, although exotic … since we are obviously entitled to an equivalent of the surrounding function to look for Google and an AI called Breeno rather than Gemini.
Photo
It is here that the Oppo Find X8 Ultra justifies its existence and its name. The photographic system is one of the most impressive and versatile on the market when it comes out. The arsenal consists of a quartet of 50 megapixel sensors, developed in partnership with the legendary Swedish manufacturer Hasselblad.
The centerpiece is a Sony Lyt-900 main sensor type 1 inch, a monster of technology capable of capturing a quantity of phenomenal light. This is what allows him to excel in low light, producing clear, detailed and natural images. But the real magic operates thanks to its double periscopic telephoto lens. The first, a 3X zoom, is capable of making shots in Télémacro mode with a focus at only 10 cm, ideal for close -ups. The second, a 6x zoom, makes it possible to capture distant subjects with clarity.
On the interface side, the gallery application has essential IA -based touches. A function called IA Publisher gives access to: IA recomposition, ai eraser (magic eraser), perfect shooting by AI, improve clarity, delete blur and delete reflections. The best in all of this is that most of the tools are useful, whether it be the eraser to correct a photo or the options for the deletion of blur and reflections. We can even improve the rendering of an old photo with the improvement of sharpness.
The new king, quite simply
The results are so good that the DXOMARK reference laboratory crowned Find X8 Ultra, attributing the highest overall score of its database at the time of the test. He particularly excels in portrait and zoom categories. Thanks to a dedicated spectral sensor which analyzes ambient light, colors and tones of skin are very natural, far from the over-track aspect of certain rivals. In video, it offers a 4K recording up to 120 frames per second and effective stabilization.
Autonomy
With a 6100 mAh battery using new generation silicon-carbon technology, Find X8 Ultra’s autonomy should be exceptional. And it is clear that the smartphone offers first -rate endurance. He is able to hold a day and a half, even two full days in moderate use. The load is also impressive, with a 100 W block which refresses in about 40 minutes and a wireless load of 50 W.
Again, we recall that this smartphone is not available in France and that it has a software optimization designed for the Chinese market. For a French user who would hack the device (for Google services in particular), certain services can drain the battery.
