A widow of England, who lost her husband last November in an all-inclusive in Spain, launched a warning on the dangers of salmonella after a survey concluded that death would be due to the consumption of partially cooked chicken.
“I still find it hard to understand how we went on vacation, but Leslie did not go home. I just hope that by speaking openly, I can avoid others from suffering, like Leslie. I do not wish that to anyone, ”deplored Julie Green through her legal team from Irwin Mitchell on Monday, reported by the BBC.
On October 9, she and her husband, Leslie Green, 70, were on vacation for nine days at the Western all-inclusive Jandia Playa, on the island of Fuerteventura in Spain, when man started to suffer from multiple symptoms, including diarrhea.
In the following days, his condition would have deteriorated to the point of consulting the doctor on site on October 12, in a state of dehydration. But that would not have been sufficient, and from the next day, he had been admitted to the local hospital before being placed in an induced coma.
In parallel, his 60 -year -old wife was also ill, but has survived his symptoms after a week spent in the hospital on the Spanish island, the investigation said according to the BBC.
When we disconnect him from the respiratory assistance on November 4, their daughter, Becci, 35, had taken the plane to find herself at the bedside of his father in Spain.
According to the Coroner, the death of the septuagenarian would be due to a salmonella infection contracted during his vacation at the hotel complex, attributed to partially cooked chicken.
According to the investigation, the couple had only consumed food to their all-inclusive during their stay reserved via Jet2 Holidays, according to the British media.
“Although nothing can compensate for the test that Julie and her family have gone through, it is now essential to learn from it to improve the hygiene of other vacationers in the future,” hammered her lawyer, Jennifer Hodgson, at the BBC.
For his wife, who must now live with the “gaping hole” left in his family, you have to do better in terms of hygiene to prevent others from being found in the same situation, while she would do “anything” so that her husband is always by her side.
“But I know it’s impossible. Listening to testimonies was difficult, but I was determined to honor Leslie’s memory. […] He was such a loving and attentive husband and father. He was my best friend and life without him will never be the same again, “added his widow, according to the BBC.
