Toxic apricot nuclei withdrawn from the Swiss market
The OSAV alerts to a dangerous rate of cyanhyderic acid in dried dried apricot nuclei from the Naturkost F&S brand.

The Federal Office for Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs (OSAV) warns against sudden -dried apricot nuclei from the Naturkost F&S brand, as it announced in a press release published on August 12, 2025. The product has a very high content of cyanhydrical acid, a toxin naturally present in apricot nuclei which can cause severe intoxications.
Faced with this health risk, OSV recommends that the population do not consume the product concerned. The Swiss importer Beta Markt GmbH immediately removed the product from the sale and ordered a reminder. The accused dried downward apricot nuclei bear the minimum durability date of March 31, 2026 and were sold at various retailers.
Conduct to be held in case of poisoning
In the event of a suspicion of poisoning after consumption of the product, the OSV recommends making contact with Swiss tox info at number 145 or consulting a doctor. The federal authority recalls that cyanhydrical acid can cause serious poisoning and that it is necessary to act quickly in the event of symptoms.
The recall specifically concerns the dried sudden apricot nuclei of the Naturkost F&S Furchat and Sakir brand. Consumers who have bought this product are invited not to consume it and get rid of it. For any questions, consumers can contact OSAV at +41 58 463 30 33 or by email at info@blv.admin.ch.
