Heat pump sales increased in Belgium: how to explain it?

Heat pump facilities benefit from more attractive legislation. Sales increased by 16% in the first half of 2025.

Heat pump sales increased by 16% in the first half of the year, compared to the same period last year, it emerges figures published by Climaféd and Frixis, two federations in the sector. Last year, Sales of this type of device had dropped by 40% in Belgium.

The strongest growth has been recorded in the air/water heat pump segment, where monobloc systems sales jumped 47%. Water/water/water/water heat pumps (geothermal systems) also experience revival, with an increase of 37%.

Air/air heat pumps are also gradually regaining their place. This technology, often still wrongly perceived as a simple air conditioning device, is increasingly recognized as A full -fledged heating solutionnote Climafé and Frixis.

A total of 17,800 heating heat pumps were sold in the first half of 2025, against 15,350 over the same period in 2024. To explain this increase, Climaféd and Frixis point to the establishment of European and national laws in nature to make the installation of heat pumps more attractive. They cite in particular TVA For the replacement of boilers increased to 21% and the new-program law which aims to make electricity cheaper and fossil fuels more expensive in the long term.

The federations believe, however, that the price of electricity, Four times higher than that of gas per kWh, “mine the economic logic of sustainable technologies. They call for reducing electricity charges to speed up heating electrification.
