Lenny Martinez scored precious points in the ranking of the best climber this Monday during the 10th stage of the Tour de France. The 22-year-old Frenchman enjoyed his performance which allowed him to put on the polka dot jersey like his grandfather 47 years ago.
To experience, Simon Yates offered himself a great victory this Monday in the tenth stage of the Tour de France between Ennezat and the Mont-Dore Puy de Sancy. At the end of this first mountain stage of the 2025 edition, Lenny Martinez adorned himself with the pea jersey of best climber by finishing in eighth place in front of the Pogacar-Vincegard duo. 25 points gleaned and a performance that allow him to imitate his grandfather Mariano Martinez, polka dot jersey on the Champs-Elysées in 1978.
“It’s always special. I think he is super happy now,” reacted Lenny Martinez this Monday after a great day of race. “I will call her tonight. But I personally am very happy. The polka dot jersey is something I dreamed of when I was smaller and I looked at the runners. So yes, I’m super happy.”

“See how far the jersey can take me”
Proud to equal the performance of his grandfather by endorsing the best climber tunic after a beautiful day of racing, Lenny Martinez (22) does not want to make it the greatest feat of his young career. The Bahrain Victorious training runner prefers victories. But the polka dot jersey will be enough to forget its disappointment of having been distant in the end of this tenth stage.
“The first objective was the stage victory and the second was also the polka dot jersey. I said: ‘Why not try both’. But after the guys were far too strong in the breakaway. In the end I could not follow,” said the one who wanted to win a July 14 … like his grandfather in 1980.
Martinez with the polka dot jersey to Hautacam
But Lenny Martinez will be satisfied with the polka dot jersey. With, now, the objective of keeping it as long as possible: “I think I will see day by day in each mountain stage, see how far the jersey can take me and try every day to keep it.”
After the first day of rest of the big loop, this Tuesday, Lenny Martinez will be guaranteed to keep his distinctive jersey this Wednesday during the eleventh stage around Toulouse. A new day of racing where the peloton will have in particular to negotiate five difficulties listed for the mountain ranking but where only six points will be distributed.
As for the first chills and the first danger for French, we will have to wait for the climb to Hautacam, on Thursday, with 36 new points to distribute during the first day of the Tour de France in the Pyrenees.
