“It prevents me from sleeping. I do anxiety in the evening, ”says Jayson Vinetti, who has worked for 19 years at the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu military base.
“My credit cards are maximum. I have financial assistance from my parents. I don’t know what to do, ”continues the monoparental father.
Like several victims of the federal pay system, Jayson Vinetti no longer knows where to turn.
“It is Phoenix’s error, and I’m the one paying,” he plagues.
Released in full depression
It was in 2022 that his nightmare started.
Leaving the pandemic, the man alive suffered a big depression.
“Phoenix did not treat my papers in time. They did not send anything to the right, so I was 13 weeks no pay, ”he says.
To keep his head out of the water, Jayson Vinetti then managed to get a 4,800 advance from his employer to hold on the blow financially.

The official then decides to take “a spreading leave”. This allows him to get back on my own for three months at home with a reduced pay.
The elastic is stretched
But rather than waiting for the end of his smaller pays to be reimbursed, Phoenix then begins to remove $ 91 per pay, then $ 200 more, so that Jayson Vinetti gives the government as quickly as possible the $ 4,800 borrowed three years ago.
What shocks the official is that he is already tight financially, but that Phoenix wants to know nothing to take smaller amounts on his pay.
For him, that’s too much. The elastic is stretched as much as possible. His parents, who helped him no longer have the means to do so.
This story is not anecdotal. The newspaper told several cases of people crushed by the IBM Phoenix machine, established under the conservative era.
At the Canada Public Service Alliance (AFPC), it is estimated that 372,000 civil servants are affected in the country.
“People have a rent to pay, a family to feed and the projects they had to put on break. I spoke to several people, and each has its horror story, “said recently in an open letter Sharon Desousa, the national president AFPC.
