In the shoes of a scout in Jubaca (5/5)

Scout one day, always scout. The motto of scouts will resonate from July 21 to August 2 in the pastures of Soulce. This week, RFJ invites you to discover, every day, an aspect of the Jubaca camp set up by the Association of Jura scouting (ASJ). The participants, from the Bernese Jura and the Jura, arrived in the nature of the village of Haute-Sorne on Monday morning. More than 400 scouts and a hundred volunteers will bring the largest regional jurassian youth summer camp to life. The values of scouting will shine for two weeks on the banks of the folpotat.

More than 150 volunteers for Jubaca (5/5)

The largest scout camp in the region needed help for its smooth running. Flyers, press conference, presence at the feast of Undervelier, the organizers have done everything to attract as many people as possible. The whole population of the region was invited to lend a hand, but the majority of volunteers remain affiliated people in one way or another to scouting. The scouts, however, have forged good links with the inhabitants of the village of Soulce who will visit them on the camp every day.

Departure for the raid (4/5)

It is one of the major events in the camp: the raid. The scouts make their bags for several hours of walking with challenges. This outing encourages participants worked together, especially when it comes to building an ephemeral camp for the night or even cooking. It therefore aims to improve the group’s team spirit, as well as to allow people who do not yet know each other very well to get closer. An outing in kind does not go without a few instructions for use. And when recalling good habits, the Abeille instructor sticks to it: no swimming without accompanying, respect for nature and comrades. Once the instructions have been heard, it is high time for participants to make their bags and lace the hiking shoes.

The food store (3/5)

To cook, you need food. However, it is not easy to store what it takes to feed so many mouths. This is why the organizers installed a food store in the camp. Each unit goes there every day to get the food necessary for the design of the different menus. Deliveries are made regularly to restore the shelves of this convenience store. The objective of the organizers is to favor a short circuit with foods from a maximum of local merchants.

This Tuesday, make way for the kitchen. The preparation of meals requires a certain organization. A team cooks in particular for volunteers and members of the organizing committee, as well as for the youngest scouts who will arrive next week. It is relocated to the versatile Halle of Glovier. On the Jubaca site, the scouts must, on the other hand, take care of the making of meals on the wood fire or with gas. Each group had to build its own kitchen.

Construction and implementation of the camp (1/5)

This Monday, we are interested in the construction of the camp. The organizers, volunteers and group managers have been on site for several days to erect the largest facilities necessary for the proper development of the camp. The first scouts arrived at the start of the week. They take over to mount the tents, build dining tables and wooden kitchens without screws or nails. A festive atmosphere resounded in the pastures of Soulce even if it was necessary to hurry before the arrival of the rain.
