In a communication made Sunday, August 17, the Armed Forces of the DRC, (FARDC) reaffirm their commitment to protect the inhabitants of the territories of Beni and Lubero against the ADF attacks.
During the night of August 14 to 15, at least 32 civilians were killed in Melia, a village in the territory of Lubero, and 9 others lost their lives on Saturday in Oicha during an attack on these rebels.
For the SOKOLA 1 Far North operations spokesperson, Lieutenant Marc Elongo, these attacks constitute acts of reprisals of the ADFs in the face of ongoing military operations:
« The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo condemn with the latest energy the recent attacks by ADF terrorists. Locked up and disoriented by the maneuver of loyalist forces, which produces results on the ground, the latter take revenge on the civilian population“.
He affirmed the citizen commitment and the determination of the FARDC “to destroy” these terrorists.
Lieutenant Marc Elongo reassures the population of the Far North as to its security and calls on them to accompany the efforts of the army.
