The yogurt would be useful for relieving the pain of sunburn. So real tip or received idea? This doctor reveals the truth.
Grandmother’s remedies are never as successful as in summer. How to protect heat plants? How to get rid of snowy and ants? How to fight sunburn? Our grandmother had the answer to all these questions. Among the most anchored tips of our time, we find the one that says that yogurt would help calm the burns caused by sunburns. Is it true? Here is the opinion of a doctor.
Asked about the set of the Allo Doctor program, the general practitioner Henry Puget first explained that another food could relieve sunburn. This is the potato. “It contains starch, which is a very good anti-inflammatory”, he says.
The specialist then confirms that the yogurt tip is not a received idea and that it can really relieve pain! “Plage yogurt contains proteins, vitamins and is a natural moisturizer”he explains before adding: “It also allows you to kill bacteria”. To make the most of the benefits of this magic food, it is advisable to gently clean the affected area with lukewarm water, then tap with a clean towel. Avoid rubbing, as you could get the pain. Then spread a thick layer of cold natural yogurt directly on the sunlight using a clean compress or cloth. The burning sensation should be soothed after 10 to 15 minutes.
Once the 15 minutes have passed, you can remove the yogurt with lukewarm water. To prolong the soothing effect, you can apply a gentle or aloe vera moisturizer. To conclude his explanations, the general practitioner adds that another product can calm the pain. This time, it is not found in the kitchen, but rather in the bathroom. “The real Marseille soap, which contains potash chloride, is also very interesting, it soothes and stops itching”he confirms.
Be careful however, it is important to note that these three tips can make miracles on light sunburns. They will not be able to save overly intense or too deep burns. Likewise, they do not replace real protection with sunscreen before sun exposure. As a reminder, too much ultraviolet rays can cause premature aging of the skin, allergies and several forms of cancer.
