It’s official, the gang of the RAM of our future laptops will be most generous

5 years after the beginnings of the DDR5 memory on the market, the mobile version of its replacement should in particular be able to offer between 10,667 and 14,400 mt/s in maximum data flow rates according to JEDEC, that is to say approximately between 28.5 and 38.4 GB/ Notebookcheckwho converted. These performances should notably contribute to propeling the RAM in the AI era a little better … including the needs for a-passing band, among others, are now well known.

By way of comparison, the LPDDR5 standard proposed maximum data speeds of 6,400 Mt/s, against 8,533 Mt/s maximum for LPDDR5X launched two years later, and which are now found on the majority of ultraportable PCs. The upmarket is therefore palpable.

It is mainly due to a double sub-channel design: each die has a 24-bit channel, and each channel is divided into two 12-bit sub-scans. This configuration makes it possible to shorten the access paths, but also to reduce latency, while maintaining a minimum granularity of 32 bytes during operations.
