The large electric SUV of Kia, the EV9, introduced an entry -level version with a 76 kWh battery. Interesting?
Until now, the Kia EV9 played the exclusive card in Europe. It was first necessary to massively feed its first international market, the United States. Marketed for about 1 year and a half now, it was time to broaden the customer spectrum with a much more affordable version.
In fact, the whole catalog of the Kia EV9 revised its prices down around 3000 euros, since the battery finish with 99.8 kWh battery, previously entry -level, now begins at 70,400 euros. But the one that interests us is even cheaper!

The Kia EV9 from 64,400 euros!
With its 7 standard places and its design that is both modern and elegant, the Kia EV9 is a success. So here it is now available, on the Air finish version, with a 76.1 kWh battery. Its price fell by 6000 euros compared to that of 99.8 kWh, but now judge relevance.
This 76.1 kWh version also has a new interest: it is associated with a new electric motor (with rear wheels) 160 kW (218 horsepower), against 150 kW (204 horsepower) for that – heavier – with large battery.
And the difference in weight is not trivial: the Kia EV9 2 wheel drive drops from 2501 to 2392 kg, or 109 kg less. This is felt on the dynamism with a 0 to 100 km/h which goes from 9.4 to 8.2 seconds, and a top speed (anecdotal) which climbs from 185 to 190 km/h.
What about autonomy?
With 23.7 kWh of less battery capacity, one would have thought that autonomy was going to collapse. Admittedly, this is mechanically the case, but not in proportions equal to 23.7%. By falling from 563 to 443 km in the mixed WLTP cycle, the fall is ultimately only 21%. The reason: a consumption that goes from 20.2 kWh/100 km to 19.5 kWh/100 km.
In fact, it will not be necessary to count more than 400 real km, and 250 km on a highway at 130 km.
There remains a major asset at the Kia EV9: its recharge speed. The Hyundai group is at the forefront on this theme, with a power of up to 210 kW on a fast socket. By alternating current, 11 kW are offered in series.
Thus, a recharge of 10 to 80% on a highway area will only require 20 minutes, against 24 for the 99.8 kWh version.
In the end, this new version of the Kia EV9 with “relative” small battery appears to us very relevant for daily life.
