The family of a young artist who was the victim of a “contemptuous and hateful” murder in the hands of his ex slapked the door of the courtroom, refusing to hear the “cryptic” charabia of the assassin now sentenced to life prison.
“On October 19, 2021, part of me too died and soon four years later, I still try to learn to live with this void,” wrote the twin sister of Romane Bonnier, Marilou.
Armed with a knife in one hand and a bouquet of flowers in the other, François Pelletier followed the young woman of 24 years old while she was walking in downtown Montreal.

By stabing her in the street, the assassin had addressed horrified passers -by, shouting: “she must die”.
“She had a last breath. And you stabbed him with 11 shots. She shouldn’t die, it was your choice, ”said Lancelot Bonnier, Romane’s older brother.
Romane Bonnier was stabbed to death by François Pelletier on Aylmer Street, in Montreal, October 19, 2021.

His twin Marilou described the murder of “contemptuous and hateful”. His friend Marie-Kim Allard of “unforgivable, unjustifiable and inhuman”.
“That day, I was amputated, I lost a member. I still bleed, as his body has bled, “said his mother, Jasmine Lebeau, in a touching letter read Monday morning at the Montreal courthouse.
Hargered by his ex
The assassin and his victim had had a very brief, but intense relationship a few months ago. Pelletier had not accepted the breakup and began to harass it, sending it avalanches of messages.
François Pelletier was found guilty by a jury for murder in the first degree last month at the Montreal courthouse. Whoever defends himself had tried to plead criminal non-responsibility due to mental disorders.
He thus automatically received life imprisonment without the possibility of parole before 25 years.
Cryptic testimony
François Pelletier was able to contact the Court one last time before judge François Dadour officializes the sentence.
For long minutes, he wandered on spiritual and metaphysical concepts. It was too much for the relatives of Romane Bonnier, who had already heard the murderer testifying for six days during the trial. They left the courtroom.
Judge François Dadour stressed that “François Pelletier presented no form of remorse or regret” and described these words as “cryptic”.
The 39 -year -old man seems “completely dysfunctional in terms of love” and has “fantasies of protection and domination of women”, according to the magistrate.
This thus demonstrates “the personality, character and dangerousness of Mr. Pelletier towards women and society”, underlined François Dadour.
The accused had already been several months in prison in the United States for drug-related offenses. He also admitted to having stabbed two fellow prisoners while waiting for this trial. However, no accusation was made.
François Pelletier brought the verdict on appeal.
