The frenzy around the Labu does not seem to calm down. During the night of August 5 to 6, a store located in La Puente, near Los Angeles (United States), was robbed. The total loot is estimated at 25,000 dollars, and the thieves left with many Labu dolls, reports the New York Times relayed by the HuffPost.
“We were burgled at 1:30 am,” said the managers of the store on Instagram, who still say they are “in shock”. “They reviewed our entire inventory and ransacked the premises. The total damage was first estimated at 7,000 dollars before being (largely) re -evaluated upwards.
Dolls that collect
Because among the stolen products were many Labu dolls, these small monster -shaped stuffed animals with a demonic air and offshore. Created about ten years ago by the Hong Kong Kasing Lung, these dolls are now tearing up at gold prices and have become a real feeling.
Labus sell in “mystery” boxes: it is impossible to predict what color and what model we buy. If some are sold for $ 30, collector’s models are available online resale for several hundred euros. The American store thus had several stuffed animals sold $ 500.
The sheriff confirmed to NBC News that dozens of Labubu were among the stolen objects. The suspects, four young men, fled aboard a stolen car which was found later in the day. They are now sought after and an investigation has been opened.
