Laurent Boutbien appointed President of Intermarché Belgium CA

The Frenchman Laurent Boutbien, senior officials of the group Les Mousquetaires (Intermarché, Bricomarché, etc.), will become the new chairman of the board of directors (CA) of Intermarché Belgique, said a spokesperson for the supermarket chain, confirming information published Tuesday in several media. He will enter into office on September 1.

“It’s a logical evolution”, specifies Henry de Lophem, spokesperson for Intermarché Belgique. “There was a desire to have someone very experienced”. Laurent Boutbien has more than twenty years of experience within Intermarché and was notably director of the TA of Intermarché Portugal. “There was a need for experience in development, cost control. This is the ideal profile,” says the spokesperson.

A transition after the integration of MESTDAGH

The Frenchman thus succeeds the Belgian-French duo of the co-chairs Antoine Florival and Philippe Guilpain, 15 months after their designation at the head of the CA.
Henry de Lophem indicates that it was a transitional phase. “Antoine Florival has managed the integration of Mestdagh,” he notes. MESTDAGH and BELGIQUE MESTDAGH and Intermarché Belgium merged on November 4, 2024.
The presidency of Intermarché Belgique CA “changes quite often” and this new appointment does not imply a fundamental change, specifies the spokesman.
