Vaud cantonal police recall that they are currently faced with a series of luxury vehicle flights. These are stolen from dealerships from all over Switzerland by individuals who then try to go to France by taking the roads of the canton of Vaud. The police invite owners and dealers to the greatest caution to secure these vehicles as well as their contact keys.
For several weeks, the police have faced an increase in theft of luxury vehicles from dealerships in Switzerland, from all over Switzerland, mainly German, but also French, even Vaudois. Several arrests related to these cases have taken place lately on the canton of Vaud. This week, Tuesday 15.07.2025, around 2 am, the authors of a vehicle flight in Romanel-sur-Morges were arrested after the police of the police of an interception device. Even yesterday, Friday 18.07.2025, around 12:00 p.m., after an A1 motorway chase, a vehicle stolen from Zurich was intercepted at the exit of Cossonay, after colliding with a truck. No injuries are to be deplored and the two authors were arrested.
In general, the authors of these flights are of French nationality and sometimes these are minors. Determined, they do not hesitate to circulate at very high speeds, endangering other users and police who are forced to use important means to stop them.
As a reminder, the Cantonal Police in Vaud invites the owners and dealers of these vehicles to show the greatest caution in the event of sale. She recommends:
- To place the keys of their vehicles in a secure place;
- If possible, to equip vehicles with an electronic immobilization device, with a GPS tracer;
- Install alarms and video surveillance cameras and block the outcomes of concessions with physical elements;
- For individuals, not to indicate the contact details when putting their vehicle on the internet on sale, but rather to agree on a meeting place.
It is also advisable to professionals in the automotive branch to ensure the contact keys of their vehicles at every moment of the day and to report to the police any suspicious behavior, because in some cases, the contact keys are stealthily stolen, when the garages and bodywork are open.
