They had taken it difficult to maintain their garden, and vandals came to ransack during the school holidays. In Lyss (BE), for five years, students from the Kirchenfeld primary school have been taking care of a vegetable garden in the courtyard. The latter have made it a place of learning, but also of relaxation. It is now a field of ruins, shows a report by the Telebielingue channel.
“We are really speechless. The garden is part of our identity and marked the school. It is a habitat for animals and for plants, “said Andrea Roth, co -director of the school. It was she who discovered the damage a few days ago. The wooden fences were destroyed over a dozen meters. “This garden is usually full of enthusiasm. There is now only misunderstanding, ”she says. The school filed a complaint. Andrea Roth plans to install a camera in the future. But at the same time, she wants the school garden to remain accessible to everyone.
Cantonal police have opened an investigation and indicates that this is an isolated case of material degradation in the region. The school will resume next Monday, in Lyss. Students will discover the extent of the damage together and then decide if they can rebuild their garden, and if so, how.
