A little earlier today, we learned that LJ Mooney and Aatos Koivu will represent their country at the World Junior Summer Showcase.
The Canadian team was slow to formalize the members who will participate in this tournament because there were several injuries.
Sounds like part of the delay with Team Canada’s roster is that in the end they’re missing « seven or eight guys » due to injury. It’s coming!

Now team Canada has unveiled the list of 44 guest players.
And Lot, Michael Hage and Owen Protz will be there. However, they will have to prove that they deserve their place with team Canada Junior during this summer showcase.
There will therefore be four players from the Montreal Canadiens organization who will be present at this “route to the World Junior Championship”.
Now confirmed – #Habs C Michael Hage and D Owen Protz will both attend for Canada. https://t.co/00B3DVb5tJ

This is excellent news for the Habs, since this small tournament bringing together Canada, the United States, Sweden and Finland is a beautiful gateway for the CMJ.
It will take place in Minnesota, a place where the CMJ will take place.
The tournament begins today, while the white Americans will face Finland at 2 p.m., and at 5.30 p.m., the Blue Americans will be opposed to Sweden.
Here is the rest of the calendar:
The World Junior Summer Showcase kicks off in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Sunday.

For those who want to see what the list of 44 Canadian players look like, here it is.
Several talented young players will be there, but there are also several big names who cannot be there, despite the invitation of team Canada.
Canada’s WJSS roster is out.
The following players were invited but are unable to attend:
Carter Bear (that)
Caleb DesNoyers (UTA)
Liam Greenentree (lak)
Sam O’Reilly (TBL)
Tej Iginla (UTA)
Beckett Sennecke (ANA)
Roger McQueen (ANA)
Jett Luchanko (PHI) https://t.co/d9Jc8Gzfwz— Scott Wheeler (@scottcwheeler) July 27, 2025
It says a lot about the Canadian power of under 20s.
One thing is certain, Canada will still be very dominant on paper in the WJSS, but the Americans will not be taken lightly.
And it will be a great opportunity to see hockey at the most dead moment of the dead season.
It is also quite interesting to see that Owen Protz has been chosen, which will give us a taste of its development. And all the supporters of CH are obviously looking forward to seeing Hage in action.
However, that does not necessarily mean that their place at the CMJ is ensured. It will be a beautiful audition for the two hopes of the Habs to assert themselves and demonstrate that they deserve their place.
