Montmartre on the program! Discover the course of the last step

Montmartre is back! A little less than a year after the Olympic Games which delighted us in the rise of rue Lepic, ASO, the organizer of the Tour de France decided to hand over a similar course to the program this Sunday, July 27, 2025 on the occasion of the last stage.

This promises the show (strand of nostalgia), and that’s exactly what the organizers wanted.

Show!

From Mantes-la-Ville, the peloton will take the direction of the capital.

Concretely, no huge difficulties before arriving in Paris. There will be the Coast of Bazermont and that of the Pavé de la Garde, but nothing too bad. Once in the streets of the city of Light, the peloton will make three towers of the Champs-Élysées, via the traditional circuit of a last stage of the Tour.

But it is after that it gets tough. Since the runners will branch off to another circuit which, this time, will go through the Montmartre hill. And this is where a race for puncture is going to commit. Because as a reminder, this climb to the Sacré-Coeur is 1.1 km at 5.9 %. A beautiful coast to stuff itself three times. Conducive to attacks.

The route is not quite the same as at the Olympic Games, because this time the peloton will avoid the foot of rue Lepic. Each circuit is 17 km for a stage that will have 132.

History side

It has been 50 years since the Tour has arrived on the Champs Élysées. In 1975, Bernard Thévenet won the Tour de France in Paris. This is the first time that the big loop has been won over the most beautiful avenue in the world. But who won the stage of the day? A Belgian sprinter, Walter Godefroot.

A victory on the fields for a non-sprown?

It is therefore not necessarily a sprinter who will impose himself on the fields. What make you want to do a lot (Mathieu Van der Poel?) To go get a prestigious victory. We also know Tadej Pogacar and his desire to win everywhere.

We advise you to look around around 6:10 p.m. and the fork to the Montmartre circuit.

The race is to be followed in full on Eurosport and France TV.
