The prices of letters in mail A and mail B as well as those of the Priority packages will not increase next year. Most of the price increases requested by the Post will not be implemented in 2026, announcing Thursday Award and the company.
La Poste had submitted to the prices supervisor in prices of the order of 70.9 million francs for 2026, referring to the challenges posed by the financing of the universal service, recall the services of Stefan Meierhans. After “intense negotiations”, the two parties have reached an amicable agreement so that most of the expected increases are not applied, they add.
The price supervisor “recognizes negative developments in certain sectors, in particular with regard to the volume of mail”. However, “he arrived at the conclusion, given the right result recorded in 2024, that no measure to increase the revenues is necessary in 2026”.
Twenty million increases
Consequently, price increases will only be possible for 20.8 million francs out of the 70.9 million targeted. They will concern in particular the Economy packages, which will cost 50 more cents next year. For example, an Economy package up to 2 kilos will now cost 9 francs instead of 8.50 francs, the company said in a press release.
The prices will also be suitable for shipments in number of mail B, international shipments of goods and undented shipments. “Thus, despite the increase in costs, prices for private customers remain largely unchanged,” said La Poste, who claims to stay in touch with Mr. Prix.
Compensations
However, these increases must “be offset so that their effect remains neutral on the result,” said the prices supervisor.
For individuals, compensation will be done through “value credits”: people who will free up a “Swiss” package via the application of the Post or Online between December and February will receive a credit of 5 francs on their personal customer account. This credit can be used until the end of 2026 for any postal offer accessible online or via the app.
In addition, for individuals still, parcels freed online or via the application will be collected free of charge in 2026. Commercial customers will benefit the first half of 2026 from a larger online discount on postpac Economy shipments (2 francs instead of 1.50).
