Launched last January, the cantonal popular initiative entitled “Less taxes in the canton of Neuchâtel” was tabled on Friday at the Chancellery of State. Carried by the PLR, the UDC and the center, it brought together 6799 signatures, when it takes 4,500 to bring an initiative to reach.

(Keystone-ATS) The signatures will now be verified. The Council of State will then have two years to send a report to the Grand Council, the Chancellery said in a press release.

This initiative aims to modify the Direct Contracts Act (LCDIR). It requires a reduction in the taxation scale for natural persons by 10% by 2030 compared to the year 2023.

In a joint press release, the PLR, the UDC and the Center are delighted with the “large popular support” encountered by the initiative. This illustrates, according to them, “the will of the Neuchâteloises and Neuchâtel to see their tax burden light, like what is already done in several neighboring cantons. »»

According to the three parties, this initiative must aim “to strengthen the attractiveness of the canton, brake the tax exodus towards other cantons, and encourage domiciliation. »»
