After persistent rumors on the canvas and a teaser in place for a few days, the arrival of the OSMO 360 is only a half-shift. Dji tickles the X5 of Insta360 and, above all, burn politeness to Gopro whose Gopro Max 2, many times announced, has still not pointed out the end of its sensor.
The OSMO 360 is thus the first DJI intrusion into the 360 ° cameras market with a compact model with the performance that promises to be at least as promising as those of the X5 of Insta360. In an attempt to mark its difference, this CAM action has an HDR 1 inch square sensor offering the same 360 ° image field as a traditional rectangular sensor, while eliminating unused areas. The other benefit of this sensor relates to energy consumption with an announced autonomy of 100 min in 8k/30 i/s.

The discovery of the OSMO 360 immediately reminds of the X5 of Insta360 with a technical sheet which would seem almost modeled on that of its competitor. The optical group offers a dynamic range of 13.5 stops and an opening of f/1.9, ensuring a high performance in low light conditions or very contrasting scenes (lifting and sunset, for example). The large size of the pixels (2.4 μm, double the industrial standard of 1.2 μm) makes it possible to capture more details, less noise, with better performance in low light and a superior dynamic range.

A real action cam
The OSMO 360 benefits from features which should allow it to hold the dart high in the insta360 x5. This camera supports the 8K/50 I/S video at 360 °, but can also be configured in 4K up to 100 I/S and 6K up to 60 I/S depending on the needs of its user.
In terms of 360 ° photo shooting, the OSMO 360 Capture of 120 MP images and up to 30 MP in 2D in 4: 3 format. The OSMO 360 is also effective with a single objective and will be able to switch between the front and rear objectives without interrupting the recording. Only limitation, the video recording format, capped in 5K/60 I/S format with an ultra-large angle of 155 °.
The Boost Video mode offers an even wider vision field of 170 ° and fluid videos in 4K/120 I/S. In photo, the camera is limited to 4/3 format in 12, 20 or 30 Mpx. Too bad Dji does not offer a 16: 9 format, which is authorized by his rival.
Creative features
The OSMO 360 has most of the functionality of the X5, such as the elimination of the selfie pole. Starting the recording can be done with a simple hand gesture or using the voice command for completely handsome control.
Derivatives of technologies on board its drones by DJI, Horizonsteady and Rocksteady are there, offering stabilization and a very effective horizon for any subject in motion. Supported by Dji Mimo and Dji Studio, the OSMO 360 takes advantage of the creative functions of these apps, which allow you to quickly edit images and publish them on social networks.
Compatible with DJI ecosystem
The OSMO 360 takes up the rapid magnetic support of DJI compatible with the accessories of the Osmo Action range. A 1/4 inch threading hole is provided for easy compatibility with traditional equipment. The Cam action also proposes to directly connect two DJI microphone transmitters to the OSMO 360, without a receiver, to capture a studio quality sound.
Autonomy
The OSMO 360 claims 105 GB of integrated storage. It is designed to evolve in extreme situations, capable of recording for more than 1.5 hours in frost conditions up to -20 ° C. Its battery allows you to record continuously for 100 min to a resolution of 8k/30 i/s, a duration which can be extended by an additional 180 min with the OSMO 360 battery extension bar.
