PABUFFETTI PJ-01: an artisanal supercar, with F1 cockpit and V10 Lamborghini engine

Unveiled at the Milan-Monza 2021 (MIMO) fair, the PABUFFETTI PJ01 is an Italian supercar produced by the Ombrian brand of the same name, founded by Juri Pambuffetti, whose family works in the field of special buses for bus. It can’t be invented! Over time, the group has diversified with bodywork and the production of the C205, an ULM of aerobatic. Aviation is indeed another passion for the family that holds the Delfina AviosuperFicie, one of the most beautiful aerodromes in Italy, with 850 meters of budding track, a driving school, individual hangars for private planes and a restaurant.

The automotive project was launched in 2017, aimed at creating an artisanal supercar offering driving performance and sensations similar to those of formula 1 single -seaters. The company then announced the production of 25 copies at the unit price of 1.5 million euros and at the rate of 6 units per year. Another pride of the group, the desire to create a supercar “100% made in Italy”.

Aerodynamics inspired by Formula 1

To maximize the performance of the PABuffetti PJ-01 and maintain a contained weight (1,100 kg), the manufacturer has opted for a steel and carbon chassis, with an entirely carbon body, created in collaboration with Florentine Carbon Dream. The design of the PJ-01, imagined by Marco Sforna, highlights forms favoring maximum aerodynamic efficiency.

You would think of a mix between a KTM-XBow, a lotus Evora and a pinch of Ferrari F430. The front is characterized by large air intakes and by fine and aggressive headlights which frame a plunging and raised F1 -type muzzle. The same goes for the sides, dug and supported by very worked aerodynamic skirts, while the rear is dominated by an extractor which extends over the entire width and by a high exhaust pot.

As in an F1 cockpit

Everything has been designed to optimize the aerodynamic support of the car, capable of generating a descendant of 500 kg at 280 km/h. The interior, very tapered and perfectly typed F1, as well as the driving station, are accessible by butterfly doors. The driving position is also derived from those of single-seaters, with the higher pedals than the pilot basin, which thus induces a semi-light posture for the driver.

In addition to the desire to reproduce single -seater sensations, this configuration makes it possible to release spaces under the body for aerodynamic flows, and therefore to do without a large, sometimes unsightly aileron.

A LAMBORGHINI engine

The PABUffetti PJ-01 is powered by an atmospheric V10 of 5.2 liters of Lamborghini, derived from the “Trofeo” version. The block is set to develop between 700 and 820 hp, depending on the preparation requested by the customer, associated with a six -speed sequential box, which gives it a weight/power ratio of 1.3 kg/hp. The announced performance expect a 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 320 km/h.

The braking system, composed of 380 mm discs at the front and 365 mm at the rear (optional carbon-ceramic), ensures the car stop. The double triangulation suspension with aerodynamic profile arm guarantees dynamic performance at height. The ultra-light alloy rims, produced by Oz, measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear.

Another tip, the cockpit is provided with a Quick Release system which allows you to change in less than 10 seconds of the steering wheel, as needed. On the circuit, the steering wheel must be fast, direct, with little rotation and always well maintained, offering an optimal view of the instruments and the track. On the road, on the other hand, it must offer great freedom of movement, be comfortable and have a shape allowing greater rotation. Two flywheels are therefore customizable by the owner.
