They thought they were doing well, but the town of Paudex cropped them. The media «20 minutes» Return to this story, which occurred last March. A mother and daughter rescued a lamb in distress in a municipal enclosure. Alerted by cries, they discovered a newborn-still connected by the umbilical cord-trampled by the rest of the herd. The two women entered the municipal plot to help the animal.

Mother and daughter tried to contact the municipal employee in charge of the herd, without success. They then led the lamb to a veterinarian, paying 170 francs for care. The animal was then kept warm in one of them and fed at the bottle all night. But the next day, once returned to his mother, the little lamb was rejected. It turned out that he was suffering from a malformation. He had to be euthanized a few days later.

If the municipality, owner of the herd, recognizes that the intention was good, it criticizes the mother and the daughter for having acted without authorization, entering a municipal ground and taking an animal. With “20 minutes”, the municipal secretary, Nicolas Chamorel, explains that you must first contact the owner or, failing that, the police. According to him, the two women are responsible for veterinary costs, even if the municipality has reimbursed half “to please”.

Questioned by the media, the assistant cantonal veterinarian, Paola Rüegg, specifies that it is also possible to contact the cantonal veterinary service in this type of situation.
