During the last federal ballot, Battle River – Crowfoot was the Albertaian district where the Conservatives obtained their strongest lead, Damien Kurek who won around 82% of the votes.

Remembrance of candidates

This by -election in Alberta was marked by a record registration of 214 candidates, including 204 as independent.

Most of them were part of the group “Longest Bulletin Committee”, which militates in favor of a reform of the Canadian electoral system.

In response to this number of record registrations, Elections Canada has set up a “suitable” ballot for partial in Battle RiverCrowfoot, where voters had to write the name of the chosen candidate, instead of checking a box next to his name.

Elections Canada said that a vote was going to be counted, even if the candidate’s name is badly spelled.

More details to come.
