Plane trip –
The dimensions of free cabin baggage are harmonized in Europe
Several airlines have adopted a common standard for the bag that passengers can take with them for no additional cost and that they generally place under the siege.
The standard format adopted corresponds roughly to a small backpack.

This should facilitate a bit of plane trips. L’association Airlines for Europe (A4E) announced, in a press releasethat his member companies have adopted a standard of guaranteed dimensions for the luggage authorized in the cabin at no additional cost (included in the price of the ticket) and which one generally slips under the front seat. Its dimensions are 40 × 30 × 15 cm. Concretely, it corresponds, roughly speaking, to a small backpack.
The standard format adopted must be understood as a guaranteed minimum without additional cost for the passenger. Member companies can continue to accept, at their discretion, greater cabin baggage, adds A4E. This is what some of them already do, As “Le Figaro” indicates.
“More clarity”
Air carriers members of the association began to apply this decision. All must have set it up by the end of the summer of 2025. Companies such as Easyjet, Lufthansa/Swiss and Air France/KLM are part of A4E. Based in Brussels, it presents itself as “the largest association representing European airlines”.
This measure aims to “provide more clarity for passengers throughout Europe”, assures Ourania Georgoutsakou, director general of the A4E, quoted in the press release. “Everyone will benefit from the same clear rule on the networks of our members.”
