Plessisville: suspicious fire in a disused factory

A fire, presumably of criminal origin, originated in the night from Sunday to Monday, in an abandoned industry located at 2233, avenue des Érables in Plessisville.

The firefighters of the Regional Maple Fire Safety Service (SSIRÉ) were alerted at 2:42. “Fortunately, a citizen to give the alert and the 12 firefighters of the barracks 43 dispatched to the scene quickly controlled the start of fire,” said Serge Carignan, Operation Division in Ssiré.

Since it would be the start of a voluntary fire, the SSIRÉ transmitted the file to the Sûreté du Québec.

“We were actually called around 3 a.m. for a fire that appears to be a criminal. No damage to the building was noted. A palette would have burned on the concrete floor,” said Sergeant Louis-Philippe Ruel of the SQ Media Relations Service.

An investigation is underway, he added, without the police analyzing the scene.
