Possible work accident: a man crushed by a tree in Dorval

A man in his fifties was seriously injured on Wednesday morning when a tree fell on him while he was doing work in the backyard of a private residence in Dorval.

The “possible work accident” occurred around 10:40 am at a home on avenue Brookhaven, near Avenue Carson, in the municipality which is located in the west of the island of Montreal, informed the police service of the city of Montreal (SPVM).

When the rescuers arrived, they discovered a man with “important injuries on his body”. The latter was transported to the hospital center in an unconscious state.

“We are also awaiting medical authorities for her current state of health,” said Jeanne Drouin, spokesperson for the SPVM.

Since it would be a question of a work accident, the municipal police service acts in support of the investigators of the standards, equity, health and safety commission (CNESST).

“The CNESST was informed of the situation and inspectors were dispatched to secure the premises, examine the scene and collect information in order to know the circumstances surrounding the accident,” informed Phuong Anh Ho Huu, communications manager.

The representative of the government organization also indicated that the CNESST would not comment on the event any more in order to “do not harm the progress of the investigation”.
