Travelers on the Lausanne line – Bercher had to show a little more patience than usual this Thursday. Already partially suspended for work and replaced by buses between Lausanne-Gare and Cheseaux-sur-Lausanne, the traffic has been interrupted on the remaining section and also substituted by buses, this time from cheseaux to the terminus, Bercher.
Pattern? “Acts of vandalism,” said TL traffic info in the morning.
During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, shortly before midnight, just after the release of Echallens towards Bercher, a locomotive mechanic realized a problem at the pantograph – the device connecting the train and the line cables -, causing damage to the installations. The vehicle was immobilized shortly after Echallens.
In fact, there are still doubts about the origin of the problem and investigations are underway, specify the Lausanne public transport. It will be necessary to determine whether an external intervention is actually in question where if there has been a technical origin.
Rail traffic was able to resume at 1:30 p.m. for the part not concerned by the work. They have to end on August 17.
