The park has set up a highly regulated procedure which it details transparently to feed its predators.
The proposal is confusing to say the least and did not fail to shock the public. The Aalborg Zoo in Denmark offers individuals to donate their pets to feed their cats. The horses are concerned, but also the hens, the rabbits and the guinea pigs … The animals must be delivered alive to the park “But no more than four at a time” where they are euthanized before being given to eat. The donation of a horse can give the right to a tax deduction.
“The Aalborg zoo welcomes living horses with gratitude, which we euthanized and slaughter for their consumption. Our needs vary throughout the year and there can be a waiting list”, Is it indicated on the animal park website.
Among the predators to feed, the felines of course as the Sumatra tiger, the Lions of Asia and the lynx, but also the white bears. Each animal is presented with its diet. We learn that Lions are entitled to “Horse meat, pork hearts, rabbit and much more”that the lynx feeds on “Small rodents, rabbits, hares and birds” but also “Cerfs, deer, momentum and reindeer”while the Sumatra tiger feasts on “Lamb leg, horse, rabbit, rats and pork hearts”.
The Park specifies that its needs vary during the year and that there can be a waiting list. The park which had also published a post on Facebook disabled the comments following the many reactions, but the announcement remains valid on the Park website.
