A loss of 133 million
RTBF indicated in a press release that the freezing of the annual endowment led to a loss of 133 million euros in four years.
This economy measure appeared in the Coalition MR-Engades Community Policy Declaration. To adapt to this new budgetary reality, RTBF has developed an economy plan, adopted by its board of directors last April.
“This was a huge job for all the teams that requires making choices in the allocation of means, while ensuring that they are resonated with the desires and needs of all the audiences of the FWB,” said the general administrator, Jean-Paul Philippot.

RTBF welcomes the maintenance of the increase in the financing of independent production at 2025 for the next two years.
The broadcaster also underlines a new indicator which encourages him to launch a vast strategic study, in order to formulate recommendations by 2030. This will relate in particular to media education with young people, the development of its own digital platforms to reach all audiences, and the potential transition from linear distribution to digital.
The endorsement will be signed in the coming days by the Minister of the Media, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RTBF and its general administrator.
