Red Dead Redemption 2: The players criticize the last update of Rockstar Games

I’m going to tell you about a subject that is particularly close to my heart: the way Rockstar treats Red Dead Redemption 2 Compared to GTA V. Frankly, it frustrates me to the highest point to see how this studio completely abandons one of its most successful masterpieces. While Grand Theft Auto VI Mobilizes all their attention, we, fans of the Western universe, we find ourselves on the sidelines with a game that deserves so much better.

The blatant disparity between the two licenses

Do you want to know what makes me crazy? It is this difference in treatment ** completely unfair ** between the two franchises. On the one hand, you have GTA V which continues to receive regular updates for its online mode, improved versions and even a definitive edition of the trilogy. On the other, Red Dead Redemption 2 Vegets without solo DLC, without Next-Gen update and especially without real monitoring of its multiplayer mode.

Red Dead’s online mode has been practically abandoned after a few years of exploitation. I still remember my endless sessions in the plains, to go through this magnificent world with my friends. Today, players must be satisfied with a few cosmetics and recycled activities. It’s pathetic when you think of the enormous potential of this universe.

Look at this painting which perfectly illustrates this inequality:

Aspect GTA V/Online Red Dead Redemption 2
Regular updates Yes, continuous Practically arrested
Version next-gen Available Still waiting
DLC solo None but online compensated None, end point
Community Active and committed As an inexistant

The gradual abandonment of online mode western

What hurts me is to see how Red Dead Online was gradually abandoned. At the beginning, I really believed in it. The immersion was crazy, the possibilities seemed endless. Then, little by little, Rockstar reduced the rate of content. Fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 Convinced that we definitely lose online mode had unfortunately seen right.

The update * Strange Tales of West * last July has certainly given a little hope, but let’s be realistic: it is a drop of water in the ocean. This update, although appreciable, does not compensate for years of negligence. I remember the time when each new GTA Online content was the event, while we were desperately waiting for something substantial.

The main reasons for this disaffection include:

  • Lack of narrative content : Unlike GTA, the missions remain basic
  • Absence of futuristic vehicles : the western universe limits creative possibilities
  • Less effective monetization : microtransactions work better in the modern universe
  • Smaller players : less long -term profitability

The tenuous hope of a technical renaissance

Despite my frustration, I keep a thin hope concerning the expected technical improvements. Rumors persist concerning an update 60FPS for new generation consoles. Frankly, it was time! Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with perfect fluidity, it could give a second breath to this jewel.

The Reddit community regularly expresses its anger at this situation. A user perfectly summarized the situation by comparing the royal treatment of GTA V in the face of the abandonment of RDR2. * Metalirockfan_12* was right to emphasize that the story of Red Dead largely surpasses that of GTA V, but that Rockstar has never correctly finished the development of multiplayer mode.

Timing does not play in our favor either. With GTA VI Who monopolizes all the studio’s resources for what promises to be the gaming release of the decade, our chances of seeing Red Dead finding its place is reduced. I understand the commercial issue, but to completely abandon such a qualitative franchise, it completely exceeds me. Fortunately, insiders still evoke this famous technical update for this year.
