Reinforced speed checks near schools in Neuchâtel

​From Monday August 18 and until Friday August 22, 2025, speed controls will be intensified in the canton of Neuchâtel, mainly near schools to secure the travel of reinforced speed checks near schools students throughout the week.

The long holidays are over. Nevertheless, the students will resume the school road, some for the first time, while others, a little distracted by the recovery, may have forgotten the basic road safety rules. Increased attention is therefore necessary, especially during peak hours, when the students are numerous to cross the roads.

During this back -to -school week. the Neuchâtel police, in collaboration with the public security of the communes, will intensify their presence near schools. Targeted speed checks will be carried out. especially during entry and exit times, in order to remind the vigilance and the importance of compliance with limitations.

Children remain vulnerable on the road. because their reduced field of vision and their difficulty in evaluating the speed of vehicles limit their ability to anticipate dangers. This is why the Neuchâtel police invite reinforced vigilance. recalls some essential gestures to guarantee the security of all:

• Adopt an anticipatory conduct by preparing for the unforeseen movements of young pedestrians
