At 38, Renaud Lavillenie won his first title of champion of France in Talence (Gironde) since 2020, the eleventh outdoors, crossing a bar at 5.82 m, Sunday August 3. By counting the outdoor and indoor titles, the former world record holder (6.16 m) now has 19 titles of champion of France.
See you almost 39 years old, the veteran only needed two jumps to rule out the competition: he started his competition at 5.65 m, when the French champion Thibaut Collet began his at 5.40 m. In difficulty this season, the 25 -year -old Grenoblois then stumbled three times to 5.82 m, a minimum bar for the Worlds in Tokyo which take place from September 13 to 21.
After skipping at 5.72 m, Lavillenie spent 5.82 m from his first try, a height he had already crossed twice this season. The 2012 Olympic champion tried to improve his best jump of the season with a 5.92 m bar, which he failed to pass.
