A project to build multiple housing housing in the territory of the city of Repentigny was refused by the municipal council during the session of August 12.

It was following a regulatory analysis and a citizen consultation that the Council unanimously refused the construction of two multifamilial residential buildings of 16 and48 homes in the northern sector of Repentigny.

The refusal was justified by the fact that the project which was to be near the intersection of the Boulevard Le Bourg-Neuf and the Chemin de la Presqu’île raised issues of cohabitation.

The Lanaudoise municipality said that the real estate project was not approved by citizens, despite the fact that it had satisfied the requirements of town planning regulations in addition to having integrated the principles of sustainable development.

“This decision reflects our commitment to promoting respectful development, in accordance with the expectations and needs of our community. We have heard the citizens encountered and continue to recommend a human -scale development while preserving the quality of life that is at the heart of the identity of Repentigny, “said Nicolas Dufour, mayor of Repentigny.

In addition, the project would have required additional work for the extension of Bertrand Street in order to allow access to the site.
