This Friday, a risk of thunderstorms hangs over certain sectors of Quebec. A little more violent thunderstorms and possible supercells are to be monitored. Or? When? Forecast.
Bank humidity
Those who are on vacation these days are more than spoiled, if swimming and nautical activities are part of their plans: hot temperatures are clearly there! Friday is added to this summer sequence at will. Indeed, it is a Friday under the sign of heat, while several sectors could see a mercury nearly 30 °, especially in southern Quebec and even in Gaspé. The temperatures felt could also exceed 35, in places.
With a good dose of humidity on the program, it looks like you can feel thunderstorms coming … and that seems to be the case! “With the humidity that rises from a notch, a risk of storms hovers for several sectors of Quebec,” confirms Alexandra Giroux, meteorologist.
Lots of energy to end the day and the week
Convective energy is present this Friday. Thunderstorm cells could thus form especially in the sectors a little further northwest of the province. This energetic activity is scheduled in the afternoon and evening.
Possible Supercellules
Wondering if your sector could be wet by rain today or illuminated by lightning? Note that, generally, it is the regions north of the river that risk the most to see thunderstorms burst. The sectors north of Val-d’Or, on the side of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Nord-du-Québec and James Bay, are more to monitor, due to thunderstorm cells which could be a little more violent.
Abundant rain, strong gusts and small groits should be the main threats linked to these thunderstorms, Friday in the afternoon and evening. “A potential to see Supercellules for these same sectors in the northwest of the province is also to be monitored, which would bring up the intensity of these possibly violent thunderstorms,” adds Alexandra Giroux.
And this is how in this Friday, the aperitif at the end of the day, which also underlines the end of a week of work for several, could be embellished with thunderstorms here and there.
