Free pilot trial for free the whole Canadian population
As of today, Canadians can register to participate in the Satellite Connection of Rogers connection at no cost. Initially, the service will support text messaging and the text service at 911, and then become compatible with the use of apps, data transmission and telephony, including calls to 911.
At the end of the pilot test in October, the Satellite Connection Service of Rogers will be offered free of charge to customers subscribed to the Supreme Rogers package. The service will also be offered as an option at the entire Canadian population at a cost of $ 15/month. People who participated in the pilot trial will receive a $ 5/month discount on the service for the first 12 months. To find out more about the pilot test, go to Rogers.com/satellite.
“We are continuously investing to offer Canadians the best networks and the largest coverage,” said Mark Kennedy, head of the technology department. Now, thanks to the combination of Rogers’ mobile spectrum and satellite technology, Canadians can transform their smartphone into a satellite phone to keep in touch and access the text service to 911 in some of the most distant regions of the country. »»
Coverage extended in rural and distant regions
Only 18 % of the country is served by traditional wireless networks. Thanks to this new technology, Rogers now covers more than 5.4 million square kilometers in Canada, more than 2.5 times the number of square kilometers covered by other wireless suppliers.
The satellite connection of Rogers allows customers and customers to text their loved ones by exploring the rocks, to use the text service at 911 in the event of a glitch on an isolated road or to keep in touch with the family while enjoying the coast south of Hudson Bay or the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Rogers’ satellite connection service uses satellites in low orbit and the national wireless spectrum of Rogers. This spectrum means that this technology is compatible with the majority of modern smartphones. The company will continue to test and optimize the satellite connection of Rogers throughout the pilot test.
Primeur innovations in the country: tradition is continuing
Over the past 40 years, Rogers has invested $ 45 billion in order to offer the Canadian population a series of first-wire technology. The 1G allowed vocal calls, 2G gave birth to texts and 3G reported the arrival of emails and internet navigation. 4G inaugurated the era of smartphones and also given the rise of the economy on request. 5G, on the other hand, synonymous with even faster speeds and less latency, has established a new era of innovation. Today, Rogers is recognized as the supplier of the most reliable 5G+ network in the country.
The Rogers satellite connection service works outdoors, including on water bodies, where you can see the sky. To find out the areas served, see the cover card.

“The BC Search and Rescue Association (BCSARA) sees a good eye the arrival of this new satellite service in Mobile, which represents a major breakthrough in matters of public security and intervention in the event of an emergency in the circles distant from British Columbia. The ability to send texts, especially at 911, during initial deployment constitutes a crucial asset for research and rescue operations in areas which are normally served. Increased connectivity in a hinterland strengthens the coordination of intervention teams and public security. »Chris Mushumanski, President, BC Search and Rescue Association (BCSARA)
“The Satellite Connection Service of Rogers is revolutionary for public security in Alberta. For the first time, people in distant places will be able to count on direct access to emergency services without using specialized equipment. Thanks to this advance, we will be able to intervene faster and more effectively, which will allow us ultimately to save lives and improve the security of the public and our volunteer research and rescue teams. We entirely support this important progress. Brian Carriere, president, Search and Rescue Association of Alberta
“We greet this progress towards the elimination of the digital ditch which affects northwestern Ontario. Being able to count on reliable connectivity should not be a luxury; This is an essential element for security, economic growth and well-being of the community. On behalf of Noma and the 37 municipalities that we represent, I want to salute Rogers for its investments in a technology which makes it possible to offer a largely necessary service in our rural and distant communities. This mobile satellite service marks progress towards a digital world where no one is left behind. Rick Dumas, President, Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association (Noma)
