A rule known by only 13 % of cyclists
“In a roundabout, visibility is essential to prevent risky situations, especially those linked to the dead angles,” warns AWSR. “When the roundabout is equipped with a cycle path, cyclists and scooter users must take it. In the absence of a cycle path, these users are advised to place themselves in the center of their traffic band in order to be clearly visible to motorists.” Barely 13 % of cyclists interviewed know this recommendation.
Pedestrians at the exit of roundabouts: a widely known rule
In the roundabouts, the glance over the shoulder when you change your band and when you get out of this type of road planning can only be highly recommended to motorists in order to check the presence of a user in the angle-mort.
At the exit of the roundabout, the rule according to which the pedestrians which cross have priority is well integrated and known by more than 9 Walloons out of 10 (95 %).
