Russia judges that a deployment of a European contingent in Ukraine would be “unacceptable”

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs judged this Thursday, August 21, “unacceptable” on Thursday, August 21, “unacceptable” the possibility of seeing a European quota in Ukraine deploy and accuses kyiv of not being interested in “a fair and lasting settlement” of the conflict.

The head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, said Thursday, August 21, that any deployment of a European military contingent in Ukraine would be “unacceptable” for Moscow, while debates are underway on security guarantees that Westerners could provide to this country.

“A foreign intervention on a part of Ukrainian territory (…) would be completely unacceptable for Russia,” said Sergei Lavrov after talks with his Indian counterpart in Moscow.

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs also accused Ukraine of not wanting a “fair and lasting settlement” of the conflict opened by Moscow in 2022, while diplomatic efforts are accelerating, under the leadership of US President Donald Trump.

“The Ukrainian regime and its representatives (…) obviously show that they are not interested in just and lasting regulations,” he said.
