A cyclist who was traveling on the edge of the most busy boulevard in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu was caught up in the driver of a Hydro-Québec truck and suffered very serious injuries, late Wednesday.
The collision occurred around 11:15 a.m., directly in front of Place Saint-Jean, a small shopping center which notably houses a grocery store, restaurants and a pharmacy.
“What we know for the moment is that the cyclist was going against traffic, that is to say that he was facing the cars who were brought,” said agent Barbara-Anne, spokesperson for Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

It is still too early to find out how the accident occurred. “As for the truck, it’s not yet clear: was he riding on the boulevard?” Did he leave parking? This is under investigation right now, “said the spokesperson.
Very seriously injured, the cyclist was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The authorities did not want to reveal the age of the victim.
