Samsung confirms the arrival of One Ui 8 Watch on these watches, but there is a catch

Since then, the Korean brand has already deployed the update of its new interface to the ultra galaxy Watch from last year. It must be said that adaptation to this model was rather easy, since it already included characteristics similar to the new Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025), with the exception of storage.

While Samsung had already announced that one UI 8 Watch would be available on all of its previous Wear OS watches, the firm gave some additional details this Tuesday in a blog post:

One UI 8 Watch will be available on more Galaxy Watch models beyond the Galaxy Watch 8 range later in the year. This update will add health motivation functions and a more refined and intuitive interface to a larger number of Galaxy products users.

For the time being, a brand does not give great precision as to the deployment window of One UI 8 Watch on the Samsung watches. However, given the previous updates, this communication is rather reassuring. Let us recall that one UI 6 Watch, inaugurated in July 2024 on the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, had taken a long time to be deployed on the other models.

Indeed, it was not until December that the deployment of the update was for European customers in Samsung. A delay which followed a prolonged beta phase until October and which was accompanied by a notable period on the security patches.

Older watches much less loties

Remember, however, that not all Galaxy Watch will be housed in the same brand with One UI 8 Watch. If all Samsung models will be well updated – from the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic – certain functions will only be offered on the most recent watches.

Concretely, even if the Galaxy Watch 7 shares the same processor and the same sensor as the Galaxy Watch Ultra, it will not be entitled to the new antioxidant index, no more than the vascular load, reserved for Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and Galaxy Watch Ultra.

For its part, the new “running coach” function, for running, will not be available on the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 6 ranges.
